보기에 따라서 집에서 뜨게질이나 하다가 나온 아짐씨 정도로 착각할 만큼 여릿하고 엘레강스하게 생겼지만, 작금의 난다긴다하는 팔뚝심 좋은 재즈 아티스트들이 이 아짐씨만 보면 절을 200도쯤 되게 해쌓으며, 같이 연주 좀 하게 해달라고 통사정하며 쫄쫄 따라댕긴다는 소문이다. 출생지 USA, Illinois주 Evanston. 직업은 아방가르드 재즈 피아니스트이자 작곡가 겸 프로듀서.
가끔 솔로나 트리오도 하지만, 그건 아주 희귀하며, 주로 퀸텟 형태의 브라스와 피아노를 포함한 리듬 파트를 서로 상이하게 대비시켜서 다이내믹하고 역동감 넘치는 스타일을 표방함과 동시에, 역시 아방가르드답게 청자로 하여금 수많은 생각과 생각의 충돌을 통하여 그녀의 음악에 다가설 수 있게 하며, 그 중 가장 강건한 것만을 건져올리게 하는 모던한 맛을 소유하고 있다.
개인적으로는 트리오 스타일이 가장 재즈적이라고 생각은 하지만, Myra Melford 같이 이런 퀸텟의 유려하고 아름다운 구조주의도 참 좋다고 생각을 하며, 구조도 구조지만 들어보면 즉흥성도 장난은 아니다. 리듬 파트의 멜로딕한 연주와 동시에 진행되는 베이스라든가 드럼의 장렬함으로 봐서 따라다니는 멤버들의 짱짱함을 엿볼 수가 있다. 아래는 그녀의 대표 앨범 다섯개. 즐감!
